SKUNK
"I'm going away, and whether I made that decision today, yesterday or in some distant future where you felt it conveniant to your feelings, it don't change the fact that Mairtin is a pile of baking powder in that there jar and has forfeited the right to have a say in how I live my life."
A widow books a holiday on the day of her husband’s funeral, much to the chagrin of the local community.
SKUNK is as an exploration of domestic abuse, grief, and community judgment, centered around Frances Hickey, a complex woman navigating the aftermath of her husband Mairtin's death. Drawing from inspirations like Camus and Euripides, I sought to create a narrative that delves into the nuanced and often invisible dynamics of emotional abuse, whilst balancing a bleakly comic tone.
